O bom retrospecto do Figueirense na Copa do Brasil não evitou a derrota por 1 a 0 para o Atlético-MG nesta quarta-feira. Em um jogo sem grandes emoções, o Galo marcou o único gol ainda no primeiro tempo e conseguiu levar a vantagem do empate para o Independência. As equipes voltam a se enfrentar no dia 14 de março, em jogo decisivo pela quarta fase.

No Orlando Scarpelli, a disputa começou morna com os dois times encontrando dificuldades para finalizar. A primeira chance clara de gol só aconteceu aos 20 minutos. No lance, Otero tocou para Róger Guedes, que ganhou na corrida pelo lado direito e arriscou um chute cruzado, rasteiro, que terminou nas mãos do goleiro Denis.

Na sequência, o Figueirense teve duas chances de abrir o placar: com uma bola na área, cortada por Adilson, e com um escanteio fechado, que encontrou a linha de fundo mais uma vez. Notando a presença pontual do adversário, o Galo passou a investir no ataque com a intenção de garantir um bom resultado fora de casa. E foi assim que, aos 31 minutos, a equipe mineira saiu na frente. De dentro da área, Patric lançou a bola para Erik dominar e tocar para o centro. Atento, Otero dominou enquanto se livrava da marcação e deu um chute certeiro no canto de Denis, deixando o Atlético na vantagem por 1 a 0.

Apesar da invencibilidade do Furacão do Estreito na Copa do Brasil, a equipe pecou em alguns lances que poderiam ter terminado em gols. Desesperado para evitar uma derrota em casa, o ataque do Figueira passou a agir de forma dramática. De cara para a área, Felipe Amorim pegou sobra de Otero e arriscou um forte chute, que estourou em Gabriel. Em seguida, Jorge Henrique perdeu um cabeceio para a zaga atleticana e, para finalizar, teve bola de João Paulo por cima do gol de Victor, sem nenhum perigo.

Nem a fúria de Milton Santos em campo, que lhe rendeu uma bronca do árbitro na volta para o segundo tempo, deixou o Figueirense mais atento. A defesa fechada até ajudou os catarinenses, assim como a falta cometida por Otero próxima a área, que rendeu uma chance perigosa aos donos da casa. Na cobrança, João Paulo pegou muito mal na bola e acabou mandando por cima do gol. O meia teve mais uma oportunidade e acertou o cruzamento na área, mas mesmo com o goleiro Victor totalmente adiantado, o Figueira não conseguiu balançar as redes e sobrou para Fábio Santos salvar o Galo em cima da linha.

Com o jogo pegado, Patric arriscou jogada pela direita, mas acabou comentendo falta em André Luis. O Figueira demorou para cobrar devido a queda de energia no Orlando Scarpelli, que fez com que a bola só voltasse a rolar 15 minutos depois. Na cobrança, nada diferente. Felipe Amorim tentou o chute direto para o gol, mas passou longe. Para ganhar mais velocidade em campo, Cazares foi solicitado na vaga de Erik e não demorou para o Galo criar uma bela chance.

No lance, Ricardo Oliveira avançou pelo meio e mandou um chute certeiro no canto de Denis, que precisou fazer uma grande defesa para evitar o gol. No desespero dos minutos finais, Jorge Henrique ainda tentou o empate com gol de bicicleta, mas a bola subiu demais e encobriu o gol. O segundo tempo seguiu com o Atlético-MG se fechando na defesa para evitar chegadas do Figueirense. Samuel Santos até tentou ajudar com um escanteio na área, que acabou cortado pela zaga.

The 22-year-old is enjoying a superb season for the Eredivisie giants, registering 13 assists and scoring nine goals in just 18 league starts in 2021/22 to date.

Gakpo has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months, with Jurgen Klopp potentially seeing him as part of his front-three of the future, perhaps alongside Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.

While Gakpo only extended his current PSV deal back in January, signing on until 2026, it looks as though a summer move to the Premier League could still be in the offing.

According to Voetbal International [via Sport Witness], Gakpo’s entourage ‘have already spoken’ with Liverpool regarding a summer transfer coming to fruition.

It is stated that the player himself feels he is ‘ready for a step towards a European top competition’ but PSV believe another year at the club could benefit him moving forward.

The Verdict: Is he needed?

Gakpo looks like a supremely gifted talent who is already making waves in his homeland – former FC Twente midfielder Theo Janssen claims he ‘has everything’ as a player – so the idea of seeing him in a Reds shirt one day is exciting.

That being said, Klopp already has five magnificent attacking options to choose from, and unless Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino leave this summer, that will continue to be the case next season.

For that reason, it is hard to see Gakpo enjoying too much playing time if he moved to Anfield now, so remaining at PSV for another 12 months makes more sense, potentially then joining Liverpool in 2023 when one of that trio may move on.

Shelley Nitschke, the Australia allrounder, has been named the Women’s Cricketer of the Year at the ICC Awards in Bangalore. In the eight ODIs she played during the period under consideration – August 24, 2009 to August 10, 2010 – Nitschke scored 342 runs at an average of 57, and took 12 wickets. She also played in 10 Twenty20 Internationals, scoring 265 runs and taking ten wickets.Nitschke won the award ahead of team-mate Ellyse Perry, West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor and England’s Katherine Brunt. She was also part of the victorious Australian women’s side in the ICC World Twenty20 earlier this year.Accepting the award from Australia batsman Michael Hussey, Nitschke said: “This year has been fantastic and to cap the year off with winning the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year is brilliant. A huge part of increasing people’s following of us has been our playing double-header matches with the men’s sides, and to be playing Twenty20 cricket on a global stage has also helped us immensely.”There was another special honour for women’s cricket, as former England batsman Rachael Heyhoe-Flint became the first woman to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.

Described as ‘very special’ by manager Oscar Garcia, Ekitike has scored ten and provided another four assists in 24 appearances across all competitions this season playing as both a centre-forward and a left-winger, with transfer insider Graeme Bailey even reporting that many in France believe he is the ‘next Mbappe’ and would be a ‘huge signing’ in the Premier League.

Per FBref, the young Frenchman is actually a close match to Wolves star Raul Jimenez stylistically and it’s no surprise that Lage would look towards the ace to arrive as an understudy.

Standing at 6 foot 2, Ekitike possesses the necessary physical attributes to handle the rigours of the Premier League, something that until now Fabio Silva has struggled to cope with, and can therefore be considered as a realistic target to add to the ranks this summer.

McCullum gave up his wicketkeeping duties in Tests to concentrate on his batting and prolong his career, and could bat as high as No.3 during the Test series.McCullum has had a successful year in Tests thus far, averaging 77.60 with two centuries, at No.7. He averages 34.90 in 52 Tests overall and New Zealand, reeling from a 0-4 defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the recently-concluded ODI series, would want him to replicate his form this year at the top of the order.”We’ve had a discussion with Brendon about where he’d like to bat and he wants to bat high,” Greatbatch was quoted as saying in the . “He averaged nearly 50 in Test cricket last season batting six or seven but, obviously, he’s changing tack in the longer version as a batsman only and he wants to make an impact. A base vem forte
Nos equilibrados confrontos com o Bragantino, foram decisivas as participações de dois jogadores formados nas categorias de base do Corinthians. No jogo de ida, Pedrinho. Na volta, Maycon. Júnior Dutra destoa
No geral, as mudanças feitas por Carille para o jogo da volta tiveram efeito positivo. Ralf reforçou a pegada no meio de campo e a bola aérea, apesar de alguns sustos, Mateus Vital segurou a bola quando preciso. Mas Júnior Dutra… Escolhido para jogar como referência no ataque, o jogador perdeu um gol feito e não conseguiu reter a bola perto da área. Para quem reclama de Kazim…

Braga só por cima
A partida reforçou a marca registrada do time de Marcelo Veiga. As melhores chances foram criadas em jogadas pelo alto. No primeiro tempo, Matheus Peixoto perdeu grande chance entre os zagueiros. No segundo, Lázaro tirou tinta da trave com cabeçada dentro da área. Mesmo com os cuidados de Carille, o Braga seguiu levando perigo pelo alto. Faltou mais repertório e dessa vez, Ítalo não brilhou. Fica a participação digna da equipe do interior.

Invencibilidade à prova
Na semifinal, o Corinthians decidirá contra o São Paulo, adversário contra o qual Carille nunca saiu derrotado. Em seis jogos disputados ano passado, foram três vitórias e três empates, aproveitamento de 66,6%. Uma vitória justamente nas semis do Paulista, no famoso jogo do Fair Play de Rodrigo Caio.
