Wolves transfer target Donny van de Beek plans to leave Manchester United in January if he is not granted more chances in the coming weeks, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: Van de Beek linked with Wolves move

The Dutchman joined United with a big reputation in September 2020, having starred for Ajax in 2018/19 as they nearly reached the Champions League final.

Van de Beek has had a torrid time of things at Old Trafford, however, starting just four Premier League matches in his entire spell there.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a January move to Wolves and now another key update has emerged regarding his future.

The Latest: Romano gives fresh update

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Romano confirmed that the Netherlands international is planning to leave United in January unless something drastically changes in terms of playing time:

‘The plan is still to leave Man Utd in January if he’s not gonna be involved in Solskjær team in the next weeks.”

The Verdict: Ideal for all parties

Van de Beek has shown that he is a quality footballer for Ajax – he scored 41 goals and registered 34 assists for the Eredivisie giants and been hailed as ‘perfect’ by Owen Hargreaves – it is sad to see him rotting at United and failing to reach his potential.

Wolves could offer him the perfect way out, with Bruno Lage perhaps promising him a key role and the Dutchman giving the Wanderers’ midfield an injection of attacking quality and end product.

If a deal could be struck it would be a big boost for Wolves in the second half of the season, as they look to secure a top-half finish.

As triangulações pelos lados com o camisa 27 e Dudu, Deyverson aproveitando-se bem do pivô deram ao Verdão um início melhor que o do Coxa. A equipe paranaense criou maiores perigos em bolas paradas. Walisson Maia, de cabeça, fez Fernando Prass realizar uma bela defesa, depois de Wilson já ter trabalhado em chute de Deyverson.

Quando o Coritiba criou perigo foi o momento em que o Verdão tinha mais dificuldades para sair da marcação. Para corrigir este problema, Cuca inverteu a posição de Dudu e Keno. De volta ao lado esquerdo, o capitão fez ótima jogada individual para Jean abrir o placar.

O gol deu embalo para nos últimos cinco minutos o Verdão pressionar pelo segundo gol, mas os times foram para o intervalo com a vantagem mínima dos mandantes.

A partida recomeçou com dois times mais desorganizados, mas ao mesmo tempo mais perigosos. O Palmeiras tinha facilidade para tomar a bola no campo ataque, mas dificuldade para criar – Walisson Maia, contra, quase dá o segundo gol ao Verdão. E o Coxa, de falta em falta, vinha trazendo perigo, mas Prass, mais uma vez, destacou-se.

O excesso de trabalho que vinha tendo com o Coxa e o cansaço de Deyverson, que atuou bem, fizeram Cuca colocar Thiago Santos e Borja – a entrada do colombiano foi bastante aplaudida. Enquanto o camisa 21 foi o cão de guarda de sempre na frente da área, o centroavante até teve uma chance, mas acabou travado pela defesa coxa-branca.

Ao Palmeiras, agora são três partidas sem derrota no Brasileiro (dois triunfos e um empate), sequência que recoloca o time no G4 do Brasileiro. Além disso, deixa o atual campeão a três pontos do vice-líder Grêmio, e a um do Santos, o terceiro. A série de seis jogos que vai definir para Cuca se o time briga pelo título, ou não, começou com o pé direito.

O Coxa, ainda com 27 pontos, segue na zona de rebaixamento. O time de Marcelo Oliveira, campeão da Copa do Brasil de 2015 pelo Palmeiras, agora está há cinco partidas sem vencer na competição.

أكد أسامة نبيه المدرب العام لنادي الزمالك، أن تتويج الفارس الابيض بلقب الدوري للموسم الثاني على التوالي يعد إعجازًا، ويكشف عن المباراة التي كانت بمثابة نقطة تحول للفوز باللقب من وجهة نظره.

واستطاع الزمالك أن يحسم لقب الدوري هذا الموسم للمرة الثانية على التوالي والرابعة عشر في تاريخه، بعدما أنهى الدوري متصدرًا برصيد 77 نقطة.

وقال نبيه خلال تصريحات لبرنامج “اللعيب” المذاع على قناة “إم بي سي مصر”: “للموسم الثاني على التوالي نحقق بطولة الدوري، ما حدث هذا الموسم إعجاز وليس إنجاز”.

Celtic are bracing themselves for an offer for Rory Mahady in the January transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by Football Scotland, who claim that Manchester City are keeping a very close eye on the situation of the 15-year-old shot-stopper, and have sent scouts to watch the Celtic starlet in action on a number of occasions this season.

The report goes on to suggest that Pep Guardiola’s side could look to make a move for the Scotland U16 international in the coming months, a deal which would see the Bhoys receive a cross-border compensation fee for the teenager’s services.

Big blow

Considering just how highly-rated Mahady is at Parkhead, should Manchester City indeed make a move for the teenager in the near future, and the goalkeeper goes on to agree to a switch south of the border, it would undoubtedly come as a huge blow to Ange Postecoglou and his side – who have made something of a habit of waving goodbye to their most talented youngsters in recent seasons.

Indeed, as recently as last summer Celtic saw their highly-rated 17-year-old attacking midfielder Josh Adam leave for Manchester City, while 18-year-old centre-back Liam Morrison and 17-year-old right-winger Barry Hepburn also both left Glasgow for Bayern Munich in the past two years.

As such, should Celtic continue this trend of developing exceptionally talented young players only for them to be snatched away by bigger sides before they have even had a chance to feature in the first-team, the question must be asked as to whether there is much point in the Bhoys having an academy at all.

However, it would nevertheless appear advisable for Postecoglou to do all he can to avoid a repeat of Adam’s move to City with Mahady, as, with Celtic’s current number one, 34-year-old Joe Hart, very much entering the twilight of his career, the 56-year-old manager will be in need of a new first choice in the position in the not too distant future.

And, if Mahady continues to develop at his current rate, he would appear to be an extremely solid candidate for the role in a few years’ time, meaning his loss would undoubtedly be something of a disaster for the Hoops.

– Conseguir atingir marcas em clubes grandes como este, que teve Marcos e Sergio, mostra que o trabalho está sendo bem feito – disse Prass, que, no total, coleciona 244 jogos pelo Palmeiras.

O contrato de Prass com o Verdão termina no fim de dezembro, mas o presidente Maurício Galiotte já sinalizou a intenção de renovar o vínculo por mais uma temporada. Aos 39 anos, Prass pretende jogar por mais três temporadas, não esconde o desejo de encerrar a carreira no Verdão e ainda desconhece o que fará depois que pendurar as chuteiras.

– É difícil falar fora do futebol. Não tenho planejado, mas tem uma coisa que o Zé Roberto falou que me marcou muito. O cara pode até conquistar títulos, mas é importante construir um legado – disse.

Após perder o posto para Jailson, em julho, e voltar à titularidade devido à lesão no quadril sofrida pelo companheiro, ele reconhece que está longe de ser titular absoluto e sabe que terá que continuar trabalhando duro para brigar pelo posto. E preferiu não falar sobre a renovação.

– (Busca por titularidade) Sempre ocorreu desde que estou no Palmeiras. Nunca me considerei titular, sempre batalhei ano a ano, mês a mês, semana a semana. Sobre a renovação, prefiro não falar nada. Melhor o presidente, o Alexandre ou o Cícero falarem – acrescentou Prass.

O goleiro elogiou a solidez defensiva do Palmeiras, que sofreu apenas um gol nos últimos três jogos, e já projetou o clássico com o Santos, na próxima rodada.

– A gente não pode pensar na frente. Tem que ser jogo a jogo e que estamos fazemos. Temos que saborear a vitória e na terça-feira passar a pensar no Santos. Clássico é importante por vários motivos. Rivalidade, pontuação e chance de tomar a posição do Santos e dependendo, poder pegar a do Grêmio também – encerrou o goleiro.

Everton’s forward line is one of their most talked-about areas of the team, with a number of talented attackers who represent their countries at international level too.

The injury crisis at Everton has had an adverse effect on the attacking prowess of the side, with both Dominic Calvert Lewin and Richarlison suffering with injuries during the last few months.

Richarlison has now become available for selection after returning from injury, although the Brazilian international was left out of his international squad, he should be available for selection and back to full fitness ahead of the clash with the Premier League Champions today.

One player that did play a big part in his international team during the break, was Anthony Gordon.

The 20-year-old made his debut for England U21s last week in an impressive performance, scoring two goals in 11 minutes for the side.

Rafa Benitez had given the £4.5m-rated gem a first-team start just before the break against Tottenham Hotspur, which will surely have given the young winger a boost in confidence for his international debut.

Gordon has been making waves for a while now, with David Unsworth holding him in particularly high esteem. He once told The Athletic: “His balance sprinting with the ball and his balance going past people is something you don’t see every day. He’s got unbelievable pace and he’s a Scouser too, so he’s tough.”

The Spanish manager has also spoken highly about the young forward, and has remarked on his development and involvement in the team this season;

“Obviously he needs more experience because he is still quite young, but the progress of any young player starts in the head.”

“If he has the right attitude and approach he can be a better player. If you have the talent and quality like he has – and the right approach like he has – you can be better and better.

Gordon can offer fantastic speed in build-up phases of play and these attributes could really work well if he establishes an attacking partnership with Andros Townsend, who currently rotates in the attacking third as either a ten or a winger.

Townsend offers experience and clinical play going forward, offering up five goals and three assists this term. He could really help with developing Gordon’s game in the long run with an opportunity for the Everton prodigy to nail down his positioning and discipline with an experienced attacking partner to work with this season.

Everton are away to Manchester City this afternoon and Gordon will be hoping to take part in causing an upset to steal the three points and climb back into the top half of the table. If he can link up with Townsend effectively, they should be well placed to cause the Citizens issues in defence.
