Sheffield Wednesday’s latest League One match saw them pick up their fourth draw in a row following a 2-2 result against Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

One figure that was not involved in the match at the weekend for the Owls was defender Dominic Iorfa who apparently picked up an ankle injury in training prior to the Cheltenham game.

What’s the latest?

With Wednesday set to take on Sunderland at Hillsborough on Tuesday evening for their next League One fixture, it has been revealed by Owls manager Darren Moore that there is a 50/50 chance that Iorfa will be fit enough to start the match against the Black Cats with the medical staff sweating over his fitness.

If the defender doesn’t end up being fit enough to play in midweek, we feel this would be a massive blow for the team and really disappointing for Moore given how Iorfa has played 90 minutes in every League One game for the club so far this season prior to the Cheltenham game, proving how important he is to the team every week.

Wednesday signed the 26-year-old, who is currently valued at £1.35m according to Transfermarkt, back in the 2019 January transfer window from Premier League side Wolves for an undisclosed fee.

Since then, the defender has gone on to make 85 appearances for the Yorkshire club across all competitions, bagging five goals and providing three assists.

Iorfa’s performances in League One so far in this campaign have earned him an overall season rating of 6.87/10, making him the fourth highest-rated Wednesday player to have started more than two league games according to WhoScored.

In addition to this, Iorfa has also managed to rack up an average of 1.1 tackles per game and 1.6 interceptions per match. That second statistic places him third in the Wednesday squad while an impressive tally of 4.6 clearances an outing is the second-best in the squad. That further proves how much of a vital defensive unit he is for the Owls.

Looking ahead to the Sunderland match, given how Wednesday conceded two goals against Cheltenham without Iorfa in the side and how Lee Johnson’s side have managed to score 25 goals so far this season, we feel that Wednesday would have a much better chance of getting a positive result if Iorfa is fit enough to play, which everyone at the club will undoubtedly be hoping he will be.

Para o técnico Gilson Kleina, as perdas de Jadson e Fernando Bob, por lesão, foram determinantes para o resultado final. Além das trocas, o comandante reclamou de pênalti não marcado em Wendel.

– A perda do Jadson para mim foi decisiva. Não conseguimos mais ter aquela força, aquela dinâmica. Nossa equipe se desgastou no segundo tempo e não conseguimos parar a bola na frente. Além disso, a meu ver foi pênalti: perguntei para o Wendel, acredito no jogador, o adversário travou a corrida dele por cima – afirmou.

O treinador, na avaliação da partida, disse também que a Ponte teve dois tempos distintos. Kleina cobrou a garra dos seus comandados durante os 90 minutos, para que derrotas como esta não voltem a acontecer.

– Foram dois tempos distintos, no segundo tempo caímos de produção e tomamos um gol de bola parada. Vamos conversar mais sobre isso na tarde de segunda, quando o time se reapresenta, mas é preciso ficar claro a todos que, quando se tem uma oportunidade na equipe, tem que saber aproveitar- avaliou.

Por fim, o treinador comemorou a pausa no Brasileirão e disse que este tempo ajudará a equipe a se preparar para a sequência da temporada. A Ponte só volta a jogar dia 9 de setembro, contra o São Paulo.

– Serie A é isso, cada um vem com seus objetivos. Nessa parada vamos poder trabalhar bem e recuperar. Trabalho é o que não falta – completou Kleina.

علق أحمد سيد زيزو لاعب فريق الكرة بنادي الزمالك، على التتويج بلقب الدوري المصري عن الموسم الحالي، موضحًا موقفه من الاستمرار مع القلعة البيضاء.

وتعادل الزمالك مساء اليوم أمام الاتحاد السكندري بنتيجة 1-1، في اللقاء الذي أقيم على أرضية استاد القاهرة، وتبعه تسلم الأبيض لدرع المسابقة المحلية.

وقال زيزو في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “أون تايم سبورتس”: “الحمد لله استطعنا الحفاظ على الدوري للمرة الثانية وهذا لا يتكرر كثيرًا”.

It has insisted that the GCB must withdraw its comments and apologise to Majola, CSA, the IPL and the BCCI, and submit its terms and conditions before international games are staged at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.The Wanderers was stripped of international status after the GCB levelled accusations of mismanagement at Majola and CSA with regard to the staging of the 2009 IPL. The ground could lose its fixtures during the England tour, which have already been reallocated, if the issue is not resolved.At the meeting, Majola presented a report pertaining to the IPL being held in South Africa. It highlighted the financial benefits for CSA, its affiliates, and the country, the enhanced goodwill with the BCCI, and the IPL’s contribution to charity in South Africa.The board said that the allegations of mismanagement were unfounded and the dispute contained “misinformation and inconstancies” from GCB. The board also said the GCB had complained against CSA to the ECB, a “breach of national and international protocols” which would be investigated further.

Aston Villa are considering a move to appoint Lucien Favre as their next manager.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by The Telegraph, who claim that the former Borussia Dortmund coach is one of a number of targets that Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens have identified in Villa’s search to replace Dean Smith in the Villa Park dugout.

The report goes on to mention the fact that the 64-year-old manager was also linked with the vacant Crystal Palace job this summer, although it is believed Favre turned this position down.

Dream appointment

While Favre was sacked from his position at Dortmund following a run of poor results in December of last year, the manager’s track record of improving struggling sides would nevertheless suggest that the Swiss coach could be something of a dream appointment for NSWE.

Indeed, after taking over a Borussia Monchengladbach side who were seven points adrift of safety back in February 2011, the 64-year-old picked up a rather remarkable 20 points over his 12 games in charge during the regular season of his debut campaign, before guiding the club to safety via the relegation play-offs.

The following season, the man who Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen dubbed “one of the best coaches” he has played under led Monchengladbach to a widely unexpected fourth-place finish in the German top flight, sealing a Champions League qualifying spot in the process.

The 64-year-old enjoyed three more full seasons with Die Fohlen, with the highlight undoubtedly being a third-place finish in 2014/15.

Favre then moved on to OGC Nice, where, once again, he led his team to a third-place finish in the league, before securing a move back to Germany and Borussia Dortmund ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

With Dortmund, the Swiss boss secured two second-place Bundesliga finishes, as well as twice reaching the last 16 of the Champions League and winning the German Super Cup.

As such, considering Aston Villa’s rather precarious 16th place position in the Premier League standings, Favre’s track record would certainly appear to suggest he could be just the man to get the club heading in the right direction once again, and perhaps even challenging for Europe before too long. That would undoubtedly be a dream for NSWE and co.

وتابع كروس: “بالطبع هذا مهم، لأن المنافسين يتمتعون بالكثير من الجودة، وهذا ما سنحصل عليه كل ثلاثة أو أربعة أيام من الآن فصاعدًا، ستكون هناك أوقات في الموسم ستضطر فيها إلى المعاناة ونعرف كيف نفعل ذلك”.

وعن الهدف الثاني لبنزيما في نهاية المباراة والذي سدده من ركلة حرة، سُئل كروس إذا كان أوضح لزميله كيف يسددها وأجاب ضاحكًا: “لا لم أخبره بشيء”. 

وأكد لاعب وسط ريال مدريد: “من المهم دائمًا أن نبدأ الموسم بشكل جيد، أتطلع إلى اللعب في البرنابيو، شعرت بحالة جيدة جدًا”.

وعاد كروس للحديث عن بنزيما الذي توج بجائزة أفضل لاعب في أوروبا من اليويفا: “ليس من المهم بالنسبة لنا أن يفوز بجوائز فردية، الشيء المهم هو ما يفعله للفريق، واليوم فعل ذلك”.

وردا على سؤال عما إذا كان بنزيما قد سجل ثنائية عندما علم بأداء لاعب برشلونة روبرت ليفاندوفسكي، الذي سجل هدفين ضد بلد الوليد، أجاب كروس: “لا أعلم عليك أن تسأله، لا يهمني من يسجل في الفرق الأخرى”.
