Everton learn Fulgini’s price tag

An update has emerged on Everton target Angelo Fulgini, regarding Angers’ valuation of the midfielder.

What’s the talk?

According to The Daily Mail, Ligue 1 side Angers are prepared to cash in on Everton transfer target Angelo Fulgini and have placed a £12m price tag on his head.

The report claims that Everton, Monaco, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Southampton are among the clubs showing an interest in the central midfielder.

Fans will be buzzing

Everton fans will be buzzing with this news as it seemingly increases the club’s chances of being able to get a deal over the line for Fulgini.

The report indicates that Angers are willing to cash in on him and that could allow the Toffees to swoop in and take advantage of their financial position to sign him, as the French said are said to need the funds.

Rafa Benitez will be looking to improve his squad ahead of next season and one area which could need strengthening is the midfielder. Andre Gomes played in 28 of the club’s 38 Premier League games last term and averaged a dismal WhoScored rating of 6.46. He made fewer than two tackles and interceptions per game, whilst only providing one chance created every other game.

This suggests that replacing him could be a smart move by Brands and Benitez ahead of the end of the window. Gomes has not been able to produce week-in-week-out in the Englush top-flight and it could be time for him to be axed from the club.

Fulgini, meanwhile, enjoyed a sublime season in Ligue 1 for Angers, averaging a fantastic WhoScored rating of 7.13 across 33 appearances. In those games, he managed seven goals and four assists from midfield – whilst also scoring three times in the cup.

This shows that he has been able to consistently deliver top-class performances, which is something Gomes has been unable to do for the Toffees.

The Frenchman could be an improvement on some of Everton’s current options and he has the quality to come in and replace the ex-Barcelona man.

For £12m, Fulgini could be a terrific bargain addition to the squad and provide Benitez with a higher standard of player in the midfield mix to compete with the likes of Allan, Doucoure and Tom Davies.

AND in other news, Brands must sanction bargain £12.8m deal for “terrific” beast, Everton need him…

Pundit confirms Serge Aurier is on Tottenham’s transfer list

Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has confirmed that whilst Tottenham are yet to receive any offers for Serge Aurier, the Ivorian is up for sale.

The right-back has spent four up and down seasons in north London since joining from PSG in 2017.

Aurier has been first-choice right-back for much of his time at the club but recently expressed his desire to return to the French capital and reunite with Mauricio Pochettino.

Having almost left 12 months ago following strong links with AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen, Aurier featured in just half of Spurs’ Premier League matches, making only 27 appearances in total.

He missed a couple of games through injury last term but was often not selected by both Jose Mourinho and then Ryan Mason.

And with less than 12 months remaining on his deal, Spurs might consider cashing in on the 28-year-old to avoid him leaving for nothing next summer.

Asked where he sees the defender’s future, Bridge told The Transfer Tavern:

“He’s available. It’s not just me revealing that, it’s well-known that he’s available for a transfer, but there isn’t a club that sees him financially viable to make an offer.

“There’s been interest, a couple of Italian clubs, PSG was mentioned. It would be like winning the lottery for Serge, getting a move back to PSG.

“He seems happy to move on. But, from my understanding, there has been no bids yet.”

Pietersen unfazed by birthday honour

Kevin Pietersen turned 28 today and has declared that the England captaincy is the best birthday present ever, after he was asked to step into the role for the fifth and final ODI against New Zealand

Kevin Pietersen turned 28 today and has declared that the England captaincy is the best birthday present ever. He was asked to step into the role for the fifth and final ODI against New Zealand at Lord’s on Saturday, following the four-match ban that was doled out to Paul Collingwood for England’s tardy over-rate at The Oval on Wednesday.”It’s an amazing job, an amazing honour and I am thrilled to bits,” said Pietersen. He has no prior leadership experience upon which to call, but in recent months he has thrived on the added responsibility that comes with his senior status in the team, and he’s confident that he is ready to take the extra step up. “I think I’ll be a similar captain to the kind of person I am,” he said. “I’ll be calm, pretty chilled and let my gut instincts and feelings guide me.””Tactically, I think I am pretty sound and aware of certain situations,” said Pietersen. But this is a temporary job. Paul Collingwood has done a fantastic job, he’s the skipper, so the main objective is not worrying about me, it’s about making sure we win and draw the series. I’ll do anything to win as long as it is in the Laws of the game. That’s how I’ve played cricket my whole life.”He has played and learned his trade under some notable leaders, however, including Michael Vaughan and Hampshire’s former captain, Shane Warne, who recently inspired the Rajasthan Royals to victory in the inaugural Indian Premier League. Asked what lessons he had learned from Warne, Pietersen replied: “Trust your instincts, be spontaneous and if you feel that something is right, have a go at it. Nine times out of 10 it is the right option.”It is a controversial atmosphere that Pietersen has inherited, however, following Collingwood’s much-criticised decision to uphold a run-out appeal against Grant Elliott at a crucial stage of New Zealand’s tense one-wicket victory on Wednesday. Ironically, it was Pietersen himself who removed the bails to ignite the incident, although much of the sting was drawn by Collingwood’s hasty apology in the aftermath of the match.”What’s done is done,” said Pietersen. “In hindsight, it’s probably not the best decision we made, but don’t think it’s going to spill over. We have had a great relationship with the Black Caps and they are led by a great man in Daniel Vettori. But it was difficult for Colly, with some guys saying one thing, some guys saying another. He has got to make the decision right there. If you ask all the captains around the world ‘what would you have done?’ I bet you most of them would have said ‘I don’t know’.”England must now win the Lord’s encounter to secure a 2-2 draw in the series, and Pietersen said he has been talking eagerly with his new charges in a bid to lift them in time for the showdown. “I’ve been giving certain players responsibility to do things, to make people feel important and bring the best out of themselves,” he said. “We have identified where we need to improve and where we can help the skipper, and if we do everything we said in our team meeting, I’ll be smoking a cigar at mid-off.”For the moment, the cigars are all in the possession of Pietersen’s opposite number, Daniel Vettori, whose impassioned reaction to New Zealand’s victory on Wednesday demonstrated the depth of resolve in his squad. New Zealand looked a broken team after losing the Test series, the Twenty20 and the first ODI at Chester-le-Street, but since then their fortunes have been transformed, and they stand on the brink of a notable double in one-day cricket, following their 3-1 victory against England in February.Nevertheless, Vettori is not about to under-estimate the impact that Pietersen could have as England’s new leader. “He’s a guy I’ve played with [at Nottinghamshire and for the World XI] and against quite a bit. He seemed like the logical choice,” said Vettori. “He has huge shoes to fill but he’s the sort of guys who seems to demand that sort of attention.”

Gers’ Morelos not expecting Porto offer

According to The Daily Record, sources close to Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos are not expecting an offer from Porto this summer.

The Lowdown: Speculation

So far this summer, there has been speculation surrounding the future of Morelos, with Portuguese outfit Porto believed to be the main side interested in his services.

The £10.8m-valued Colombia international (Transfermarkt) was even said to have agreed personal terms with the two-time Champions League winners (Antena 1), but nothing official has materialised.

The Latest: No Morelos bid expected

Now, as per this latest report, Morelos and co are not expecting an offer during this transfer window from Porto.

At the moment, at least, it seems as though he could be staying at Ibrox.

The Verdict: Still up in the air

Of course, Steven Gerrard and co will be eager to hold on to Morelos. The midfielder has managed 95 goals in 184 games for the club (Transfermarkt), while he showed even in the Gers’ 2-1 Champions League defeat to Malmo on Tuesday that he still knows where the back of the net is.

The problem is whether the Gers can match Morelos’ ambitions. He has previously stated his desire to play in a more prestigious league (Goal.com), and has revealed he dreams of playing in the Premier League (Radio Caracol).

The Champions League is also likely to be a big objective of his – the Gers will now not be competing in that competition this term. Even if Porto do not want to make a move for his services, another European outfit might.

In other news, Rangers fans rage at this SPFL move.

O Peixe deve ir a campo no Estádio Hernando Siles com: Vanderlei; Victor Ferraz, Lucas Veríssimo, David Braz e Jean Mota (Zeca); Renato, Leandro Donizete e Lucas Lima; Vitor Bueno, Bruno Henrique e Ricardo Oliveira.
