Marcelo Bielsa has said that Adam Forshaw remains an “important” player for Leeds United as he nears his return from a long-term injury absence.

The 29-year-old has suffered terrible misfortune in the injury department in recent seasons, not playing for the Whites since early on in the 2019/20 campaign. A serious hip problem has continually halted Forshaw’s progress, but he could now be set to return to the fold before the end of this season.

The midfielder, who earns £20,000 per week at Elland Road, has made 52 appearances for Leeds to date, but it should have been so many more.

Speaking after Saturday’s 2-1 win at home to Sheffield United [via BBC’s Adam Pope on Twitter], Bielsa gave an update on Forshaw’s chances of playing again this season, saying:

“Even in a positive moment for 10 days, need to be measured in months. Hasn’t played for two seasons, to be able to play 90 minutes at a high competition, there’s a while to go. He is healthy and he has two months left of the season. Important player.”

It would be heartwarming to see Forshaw take to the field again in the final six weeks or so of the 2020/21 campaign following such a tough time in his career.

Whether he manages to return as the same player as before is up for debate, but giving him the opportunity to taste Premier League football would be just desserts for the work he has put in to regain match fitness and the torment he has endured over the past 18 months.

رصدت صحيفة مكسيكية المشاكل التي يعاني منها النادي الأهلي في الفترة الحالية قبل أيام قليلة من مباراة مونتيري في الدور الثاني من بطولة كأس العالم للأندية 2021 والتي ستقام في الإمارات.

ويلتقي الأهلي ومونتيري يوم، السبت المقبل 5 فبراير، في تمام الساعة السادسة والنصف مساءً بتوقيت “القاهرة” على ملعب “محمد بن زايد آل نهيان”.

وتحدثت صحيفة “Distrito Regio” المكسيكية عن الأهلي وقالت إن العملاق القاهري غارق في الأزمات قبل انطلاق مونديال الأندية ومواجهة مونتيري بعد أيام قليلة.

وسافر مونتيري في الساعات القليلة الماضية إلى الإمارات من أجل الاستعداد والتأقلم على الطقس وفارق التوقيت ومواجهة الأهلي تحت قيادة مدرب منتخب مصر السابق، خافيير أجيري.

وأفادت الصحيفة أن إدارة الأهلي قد ربطت استمرار مدربه، بيتسو موسيماني، وتجديد عقده بالفوز على مونتيري وتقديم أداء مقنع في كأس العالم للأندية.

وتابعت أن الأهلي لم يفز منذ 6 مباريات تحت قيادة موسيماني حيث تعادل في المباراة الأخيرة في الدوري المصري قبل التوقف أمام فيوتشر 1-1 و3 مباريات أخرى في كأس رابطة الأندية المصرية وخسارة أمام سموحة يوم، الخميس الماضي.

وكذلك لم يفز على الرجاء البيضاوي المغربي إلا بركلات الجزاء وكان متأخرًا في النتيجة حتى اللحظات الأخيرة قبل تسجيل، طاهر محمد طاهر، هدف قاتل في شباك الفريق المغربي ليكون التعادل والفوز بركلات الترجيح.

وعلقت الصحيفة أيضًا على تصريحات موسيماني في الفترة الماضية حول تجديد عقده مع الأهلي وأن هناك حالة من التشتت يعاني منها بسبب العروض الخارجية من الأندية التي ترغب في التعاقد معه، وطالب الإدارة بحسم موقفها خلال الأيام القادمة.

If the Austrian wants to give his side the best chance of success against Sam Allardyce’s side on Monday, he should consider restoring Takumi Minamino to his starting lineup.

The Japanese international was left out against Burnley due to being fatigued from the international break but he should be fit to feature at the Hawthorns on Monday night.

The 26-year-old has impressed since joining on loan from Liverpool late in the winter transfer window, managing two goals in six appearances, despite the Saints’ dreadful Premier League form since the turn of the year.

In a game where Southampton are likely to have a lot of possession, Hasenhuttl should select the players he feels are best on the ball and Minamino has averaged more passes per game than the likes of Nathan Redmond, Theo Walcott and Moussa Djenepo, who are perhaps the most likely to challenge him for a starting spot on the left-hand side.

He has also averaged 1.5 shots per game with the Saints this season, which marks him out as more of a goal threat than either Redmond or Djenepo.

However, it is not just his attacking play that should earn him a start against the Baggies, as his pressing intensity has also been impressive with both Liverpool and Southampton this season, and against a side prone to defensive mistakes, it could be very useful to have the Japanese international constantly closing the opposition players down.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp described the £10.8m-rated winger as a “machine” for the way he closed down Ajax in a Champions League earlier in the season, so perhaps he could have the same impact at the Hawthorns for Southampton.

Certainly, he will be fresh and keen to make a positive impression now that there is plenty of competition for spots in Hasenhuttl’s side, whilst there is also the added bonus that he is cup-tied next weekend, so can run himself into the ground against West Brom without worrying about whether he will be fit to play at Wembley.

أصدرت شرطة مانشستر بيانًا رسميًا بشأن الدولي الإنجليزي ماسون جرينوود لاعب مانشستر يونايتد، بعد تعديه على صديقته بالضرب.

وكان جرينوود قد قُبض عليه بتهمة الاعتداء الجسدي العنيف على صديقته، وممارسة الجنس معها بالإجبار واغتصابها.

 تم الإفراج بكفالة عن رجل يبلغ من العمر 20 عامًا تم القبض عليه (يوم الأحد 30 يناير 2022) للاشتباه في ارتكابه جريمة اغتصاب واعتداء بالضرب على امرأة.. على ذمة التحقيق.

وكان مانشستر يونايتد قد أدان اللاعب لأعمال العنف التي قام بها، وتم إيقافه عن التدريبات لحين إشعار آخر، كما قام العديد من زملائه في الفريق بإلغاء متابعته عبر حساباته بمواقع التواصل الاجتماعي.

أشاد ترينت ألكسندر أرنولد لاعب فريق ليفربول، بالنجم المصري محمد صلاح زميله في الريدز، مؤكدًا أنه يتعلم منه كلما تدرب معه.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer has heaped praise on Barry Bannan for his level of consistency since arriving at Hillsborough – something that probably can’t be said of all of his teammates given the club lie 23rd in the Championship table.

Bannan joined the Yorkshire club from Crystal Palace back in 2015 and has since gone on to become a regular feature under various managers.

The 31-year-old midfielder has made over 250 appearances for the Owls, sometimes playing out wide, showing his worth to the likes of Carlos Carvalhal, Garry Monk and now Darren Moore.

Ultimately, he is a player that has certainly impressed Palmer in recent years, with the ex-Wednesday star quick to praise him in an exclusive interview with FFC.

“I think somebody that has regularly performed for them has been Barry Bannan,” Palmer said. “I think he’s someone who’s always done well for Sheffield Wednesday since he’s come to the football club.”

Considering all of the above, Bannan is a player who Moore surely would not want to lose. However, with the Wednesday captain’s contract up at the end of the season and relegation a possibility, a Hillsborough exit may be on the cards.

If the Scotsman does end up departing, he could be joined by the likes of Jordan Rhodes and Keiren Westwood, who are also set to be free agents in the summer.

In an exclusive interview with The Transfer Tavern, Steve Howey, who made 150 appearances for Newcastle United, claims that on-loan midfielder Joe Willock is not worth £20 million.

It has been reported that the Gunners are open to the midfielder leaving permanently this summer for a price tag of £20 million, which would make him the club’s joint fourth-most expensive signing in their history, behind Joelinton, Michael Owen and Miguel Almiron.

Since the international break, Steve Bruce has changed his formation, opting for three centre backs and just two centre midfielders which has seen Willock make a goal-scoring cameo against Tottenham Hotspur, however he didn’t feature at all in their win against Burnley.

Speaking on if £20 million is too much for Joe Willock and if the midfielder has warranted that price tag based on his performances since arriving in January, Howey told The Transfer Tavern:

“No, I think that’s too much but then again, you look at how much players get bought for in this day and age and it’s absolutely ridiculous. Bang average players getting that much money spent on them.

“£20 million, not for me because he’s played about 10 games, so no.”

Willock has been impressive since arriving on-loan on deadline day. He got a goal on his debut during the 3-2 win against Southampton and his late runs into the box have made a difference to Bruce’s usually static midfield.

The £20,000 per week midfielder has come through Arsenal’s academy but was mainly being used in the Europa League under Mikel Arteta before his move to Tyneside.
