Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

What’s the word?

That’s according to Italian journalist Vito Angele, via the Italian Football Podcast, who claims that The Red Devils are close to landing the 21-year-old.

Premier League rivals Liverpool and Serie A giants AC Milan are also believed to be keen on securing his services.

Angele told the Italian Football Podcast: “He is an important player but I don’t think he will be coming to Serie A.

“Man Utd are working on him and they are the favourites to sign him right now. Lille are also asking a high price for him which is too much for Milan.”

Soumare has been in impressive form since the start of this season, making 21 appearances across all competitions, via Transfermarkt.

His current deal with the French Ligue 1 outfit will run out in 2022. However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be able to fend off interest from elsewhere in the January transfer window.

Paul Pogba 2.0?

Paul Pogba faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford but there’s no denying that the French World Cup winner possesses incredible talent.

A Premier League winner under Sir Alex Ferguson, the Frenchman has produced 34 goals and 36 assists in over 180 appearances in all competitions, via Transfermarkt.

Pogba’s contract is also set to expire in 2022 but Solskjaer seems happy to let the the 27-year-old decide his own future.

If Pogba departs in the near future, United could get the perfect replacement in the shape of the 6 ft 2 in Soumare, who has even been compared to his fellow countryman, but “without the baggage“.

Lille president Gerard Lopez has heaped praise on his young charge, saying: “He’s one of the very best at his job. He’s technical, with incredible physical power and wins a great deal of possession. He’s a modern No.6 or 8. We’ll see him in the France team very soon. He’s a clear vision of where he wants to go and he’s working very hard to get there.”

In a similar way to Pogba, Solskjaer could transform the France U21 international into a box-to-box midfielder who can also play as a defensive-minded central midfielder. You could also compare that to the work he has done with Scott McTominay.

WhoScored lists some of Soumare’s main strengths as his strong dribbling and passing, which certainly shows that he has the capacity to adjust to Solskjaer’s demands. Valued at £20m via Transfermarkt, in 16 top-flight appearances, he is averaging 1.3 tackles and 1.2 interceptions per game, which shows that he isn’t afraid of doing the dirty work.

It’s fair to say that United could land themselves an absolute gem with an eye on the future in Soumare, but Ed Woodward will have to act swiftly to avoid a potential bidding war amid interest from Liverpool and AC Milan.

Mas Marcelo Oliveira, com razão, não se convenceu. O jogo ia bem até a intermediária, mas faltava aproximação na frente. Dudu e Erik carregavam muito a bola e pouco entregavam a Barrios, que também não ajudava muito…

Gabriel Jesus, no intervalo, e Alecsandro, aos dez minutos, entraram bem nas vagas de Erik e Barrios. Mas a postura mais agressiva do River no segundo tempo complicou a insegura defesa brasileira. Aos cinco, o jovem Schiappacasse, já vendido ao Atlético de Madrid, penetrou livre pela esquerda e foi derrubado por Prass: pênalti que Michael Santos, outro bom nome do limitado time uruguaio, bateu para empatar.

O Verdão voltou à frente aos 12 minutos, em mais um gol com a assinatura de seu pressionado técnico: em nova jogada destruída por Thiago Santos, Alecsandro deu uma bela assistência de peito para Gabriel Jesus, camisa 12, estufar a rede.

O enredo de uma vitória com ares saudosistas, tamanha a importância do número usado por Jesus na história do clube, esbarrou em mais um gol “ridículo” sofrido após cobrança de escanteio. Montelongo se soltou de Jean e cabeceou sozinho, aos 18.

Com Robinho no lugar de Arouca, o Palmeiras retomou o domínio e teve chances para vencer. Sobrou vontade. Faltou lucidez.

Verdão é o 11º melhor em finalizações certas no Paulista, com 21. É o 7º que mais errou finalizações, com 42.

O camisa 29, depois de um 2015 apagado, disse que este seria o seu ano. Já foram dois gols marcados (um de pênalti), mas a torcida não morre de amores pelo atual titular. Entre os concorrentes à posição, ele é quem mais jogou na temporada, o oposto de Cristaldo, que não tem nem 90 minutos em campo somando as três vezes em que entrou. Contra o River Plate (URU), Churry nem ficou no banco.

Em um time que ainda depende muito de lançamentos pelo alto, Rafael Marques poderia ser uma opção para deixar a equipe mais móvel. Embora não goste de atuar assim, quando o camisa 19 foi usado mais à frente, fez bons jogos. Erik também já foi centroavante, no Goiás, mas no Palmeiras é apenas o rival de Gabriel Jesus.

Marcelo Oliveira não parece pensar em mudar os dois de função – nessa terça, ambos participaram do treino de ataque contra defesa, mas abertos pelos lados. Cristaldo foi o homem de frente do time reserva. Caberá a um dos três, portanto, resolver a falta de gols no Palmeiras.

Barrios -Não participou do torneio amistoso no Uruguai para fazer fortalecimento. Perdeu a estreia do Paulista com uma inflamação lombar e agora está fora graças a uma distensão. Tem três jogos, 191 minutos e nenhum gol.

Alecsandro -Só não entrou contra o Oeste, mas no restante ou foi titular, ou entrou no segundo tempo. Fez dois gols em sete jogos e 426 minutos em campo.

Cristaldo -Apenas entrou no segundo tempo dos jogos ante Libertad (PAR), Oeste e Linense. São 71 minutos em campo e nenhum gol marcado, também.

Rafael Marques -Quando entra no time, joga aberto pelo lado direito. Só atuou como centroavante no jogo-treino contra o River (URU), no Uruguai. Foram 122 minutos em campo, sem gols.

Erik -Com 250 minutos em campo, foi usado em sete dos oito jogos, mas sempre pelos lados. Também foi festado como centroavante no jogo-treino no Uruguai.

According to The Daily Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, West Ham are reportedly leading the race for Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard as he’s set to leave Old Trafford on loan.

What’s the word?

Lingard, 28, has been at the club since the age of seven but has struggled to adapt to the demands of club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The academy product has not even managed a single start in the Premier League so far this season, despite making the bench on four occasions so far and has been restricted to cup appearances.

He has been heavily linked with moves to Inter Milan, Tottenham, Nice and Sheffield United but it seems he could be set for a reunion with his former manager David Moyes at West Ham.

Get rid of him

Lingard is one of several players who haven’t been able to perform on the big stage for a number of years now and is strikingly similar to Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez, who is four years his senior, struggled to perform at Old Trafford after his arrival from Arsenal, bagging just five goals and nine assists in 45 games for the Red Devils. Considering his exemplary record at Arsenal, signing him was considered to be quite a coup at the time, but his form soon tailed off shortly after his arrival.

The former England international has contributed to 53 goals in over 200 appearances for the club. However, he has never really hit the same heights he enjoyed in the 2017-18 season, where he scored ten times in 39 appearances across all competitions.

Despite his obvious struggles, he still earns around £75,000-per-week at Old Trafford, and when you consider his role in the squad, it becomes clearer that he isn’t of the required standard. Once the end of the season comes to the end, he will have cost Ed Woodward a combined total of £3.9m for a year’s worth of not contributing much on the field.

This means that if you divide the number of games he has played this season – three – by his yearly salary, he will have set the board back a hefty £1.3m per appearance with little to no reward, as he has failed to find the back of the net in each of those appearances.

These days it’s becoming harder to justify his position in the squad, let alone a place in the starting line-up.

It’s easy why the club should consider offloading Lingard. After all, he’s bleeding Woodward dry.

He might not be the only one heading for the exit, with Phil Jones also considered surplus to requirements.

With the transfer window reaching its conclusion, Celtic are working on two deals before the deadline closes.

What’s the word?

Late last night we received word that Jonjoe Kenny was set to join the Hoops on loan from Everton. However, another loan deal could be on the cards for Neil Lennon’s side.

On Deadline Day, it was reported by Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph that Celtic were interested in signing Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga.

It’s thought that the 21-year-old will find out later whether he is free to leave for a temporary switch. Two Premier League club’s are also eyeing a move for the young defender.

Sky Sports claims that he is one of a number of defenders the Bhoys are considering before the window closes.

Forget Duffy

Signing another centre-back in January is of utmost importance for Celtic. They have been shocking in that department this season, shipping 19 goals in six Europa League outings and letting in 13 more than Rangers domestically.

It’s been a horror show for Celtic and a large part of that has been down to Shane Duffy. The Brighton loanee has made numerous blunders in recent weeks and months. He was nearly sent off in the Old Firm derby and is making a succession of lacklustre errors.

Signing Tanganga, therefore, would be a huge bonus. Not only can he play in the middle but he’s also a capable full-back so like Kristoffer Ajer, would provide Lennon with an enormous amount of versatility.

Unlike Duffy, his decision making seems to be better and pivotally, quicker. After his Spurs debut last year, Tony Cascarino commented: “He runs with pace and you can tell he sees things quickly, he gets there. He made a couple of last-ditch challenges.”

This has the potential to be huge for Celtic. Duffy is typically a slow player and relies on his big frame to outmuscle defenders. Tanganga, though, is not only physical but can use his pace to recover and make important tackles.

If Celtic can sign the £25k-per-week youngster, it would be a great way to end the window.

A segunda etapa começou da mesma forma que a primeira, sem luz e com o Madureira indo para cima. O tricolor suburbano dominava a partida e aos 13 minutos da etapa final, Leandro Chaves, de cabeça, abriu o placar para o time visitante. Em uma das poucas jogadas de ataque do Bangu na partida, após passe de William Amendoim, o meia Júnior mandou para o fundo das redes.

Com o resultado deste sábado, o Bangu permanece na terceira colocação do Grupo A com 11 pontos. Com campanha parecida, o Madureira segue na terceira posição do Grupo B do Campeonato Carioca, também com 11 pontos conquistados.

O próximo compromisso do Bangu no Campeonato Carioca será contra o Flamengo, dia 06 de março, às 17h. No mesmo horário, o Madureira encara o Resende fora de casa, no Estádio do Trabalhador.
