Whilst Leighton Clarkson might be stealing the limelight after his Champions League debut in midweek, the Reds also have Jake Cain in the academy who looks to have a very bright future with the Reds.

The 19-year-old travelled with the Liverpool squad to Denmark for their game against FC Midtjylland in midweek but failed to make an appearance, whilst fellow youngster Clarkson played the whole game.

However, it would not be a surprise to see Cain make another first-team appearance for the club this season, after he signed a professional contract with the Merseyside club in 2019, before signing a long-term extension earlier this year.

The young midfielder has been training with the first-team in recent times and made his first-team debut for the club earlier this year in the 1-0 FA Cup win against Shrewsbury Town.

More appearances for Klopp’s side are surely not too far away, as he has been superb in his performances for the academy team so far this season, with three goals and four assists in just seven appearances in the Premier League 2.

In an interview with the club in June of this year, Cain described his playing style, saying:

“Since a young age, I’ve been a very good passer. I can see passes which the opposition can’t defend really well. I like to get into positions where I’m behind the defence and thread balls through.”

Meanwhile, a scout report from Team Talk suggested that the youngster could be deemed a ‘set piece king’ due to his ability in dead-ball situations, which is something that could certainly excite Liverpool fans in the future.

The young midfielder has already drawn comparisons with Jordan Henderson for his style of play, and if he can have anywhere near the impact the Liverpool captain has had at the club once he establishes himself in the first-team, then he will surely prove to be popular amongst the Anfield faithful.

With both summer signings Robin Koch and Diego Llorente out with injuries, Bielsa is low on centre-back options. He has recently been starting Luke Ayling in a more central role, but he must make sure his defence is the best it can be against an attack like Man United’s.

The boss has Pascal Struijk at his disposal and he should consider giving him just his fourth Premier League start of the season. The £25,000 per week defender has slipped down the pecking order recently, but a natural centre-back is a much safer option than Ayling, no matter how well he has been playing in the makeshift position.

This will allow the Englishman to return to his natural right-back role, with Stuart Dallas on the opposite flank. Kalvin Phillips will, as usual, help defend the backline by lying deep in the midfield.

Although Rodrigo had a great game last time out against Newcastle, Pablo Hernandez made a dream substitute appearance by bagging himself two assists off the bench. Because of this, he may have earned himself a spot in the starting lineup to help Patrick Bamford threaten Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s backline.

A win on the road will be a huge result for the Whites who are looking to climb the table, against an old nemesis no less.

Gilvan de Pinho Tavares ainda ratificou que não há necessidade de uma autorização oficial da CBF para a Primeira Liga acontecer. O presidente do Atlético-MG, Daniel Nepomuceno também garantiu a realização do duelo entre Galo e Flamengo:

Fans of Crystal Palace have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which featured footage of Eberechi Eze’s remarkable solo goal against Sheffield United last weekend.

Since arriving at Palace from Queens Park Rangers in what was a £16.02 million deal back in August, Eze has highly impressed over his 15 Premier League appearances for Roy Hodgson’s side, scoring two goals and providing two assists, as well as averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.84 – ranking him as the club’s fourth-best performer in the top flight.

The latest of the 22-year-old’s goals came in the club’s recent 2-0 victory against Sheff United, where the midfielder picked up the ball inside his own half, before winding his way through a couple of United challenges and finishing beautifully from 18 yards out.

And, after the Crystal Palace official account relayed this footage on Twitter, fans of the club flocked to have their say on the goal, with many of them heaping praise on the England U21 international.

It seems Crystal Palace’s quest to find a new striker has taken an interesting twist, if recent reports are to be believed.

What’s the word?

According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle could be set for a return to Crystal Palace in the summer.

Gayle joined Newcastle from the Eagles in the summer of 2016 and has scored 34 goals and supplied 10 assists across all competitions during his time at St James’ Park.

However, the centre-forward has fallen down the pecking order under Steve Bruce after nearly five years on Tyneside and it is understood that a possible return to his former club could be on the cards.

Palace have been desperately trying to find a new frontman for what feels like forever.

Belgian striker Christian Benteke’s form has been patchy at best, as he hasn’t hit double digits since the 2016/17 season, and the least said about Steve Parish’s decision to sign Alexander Sorloth from from Danish side FC Midtjylland, the better.

In the last few months alone, Wilfried Zaha has had to shoulder the burden of scoring the majority of Palace’s goals, which has only made his absence even more obvious on the few occasions where he has missed a game this season.

Given his excellent goal record for the Eagles, Gayle fits the bill for Roy Hodgson’s side, as his versatility means he could be deployed at the top of the pitch or on either flank.

During his time at Selhurst Park, the £7m-rated 31-year-old bagged 25 goals and three assists in 74 appearances in all competitions via Transfermarkt.

His childhood coach Dave Bricknell lavished praise on his former young charge, saying: “He was a lovely lad. By then, people had started ringing up about David Beckham, who was becoming the real megastar. But even then I thought: ‘One day, they could be ringing me up about Dwight’.”

“I remember one tournament in Holland where we played a penalty shoot-out and Dwight took penalties with both of his feet. He always had that fantastic technique.”

Palace must swoop for Gayle in the summer, as they simply cannot afford to pass up on the opportunity to sign a proven Premier League goal-scorer who won’t cost Palace a penny. Get it done, Eagles, before somebody else does.

A Unidos da Tijuca entrou na Avenida apenas na madrugada de domingo, por volta das 3h da manhã. Eurico estava lá, firme e forte, no seu canto no camarote, que era decorado, coincidentemente, pela arquibancada popular, com a bandeira do Vasco.

Falando em Vasco, já era dia de clássico, o primeiro do ano, e contra o maior rival, o Flamengo, pela quarta rodada do Campeonato Carioca, em São Januário. Mas quem disse que Eurico quis falar sobre o jogo?

– Não dou entrevista na Sapucaí, nem pitaco – limitou-se a dizer ao LANCE!.

Às 4h25, acompanhado de um segurança, o presidente do Vasco desceu a escada do camarote, dirigiu-se à saída do sambódromo ainda adotando poucas palavras com os torcedores que o abordavam e não viu a Mangueira entrar.
