Sheffield Wednesday have yet to taste defeat in the Championship since Steve Bruce took charge at Hillsborough, a run that has stretched back to January and includes 11 games.

During that run Wednesday have kept a superb seven clean sheets, thanks in no small part, to goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, who has played in every game since Bruce’s arrival.

The keeper, who has had spells at Manchester City and Sunderland on his CV, is “delighted” at his form and says there has been a “great turnaround” at the club in 2019.

He told the Sheffield Star: It has been a great turnaround and that is credit to everybody at the club,

“I think I have kept nine [clean sheets] from 14 games. I’m delighted. If you were a striker and you scored nine goals in 14 games, you would be absolutely buzzing.”

The Owls’ win at a blustery Bolton on Tuesday means that they now sit just four points off a play-off spot, but still have a number of clubs to overhaul in the remaining weeks of a season in a race that is sure to go down to the wire.

But Westwood’s focus is on the next game — Blackburn Rovers are the visitors to Hillsborough on Saturday — and stressed that all games between now and the end of the season are “massive”.

He said: “We have to keep plugging away. We have another big game on Saturday.

“Every game we have now is massive. If we can manage to get a win at the weekend going into the international break, that would be big.”

“Let’s just get to this international break and see where we are at.”

Certainly, along with fellow play-off chasers Preston, Wednesday are the form team in the Championship, but it is a run that needs to continue if promotion is to be a realistic target.

It would be a fantastic achievement from where the club sat prior to Bruce’s arrival. It cannot be understated the influence the former Manchester United player has had on the squad, and the players are clearly responding.

Whether the Owls can see it all the way through to May is another question, but regardless if they do or not, Bruce has breathed life back into a sleeping giant that was simply treading water beforehand.

According to TEAMtalk, Leeds United are one of a number of clubs looking to sign Luca Murphy following his release from Hartlepool United.

What’s the word, then?

Murphy departed Hartlepool by mutual consent and it is understood that there will now be a scramble for the 17-year-old centre-back.

According to TEAMtalk, Leeds want to sign him, but the Whites will have to compete with the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Back in December, it was reported that Fulham were interested in the teenager, who never made a first-team appearance for Hartlepool.

The Boot Room have described Murphy – released from his National league side due to financial issues – as ‘a ball-playing centre-back’.

It is certainly one to watch as a number of clubs battle for the in-demand defender, but Leeds face a huge task to convince the youngster to make the switch to Elland Road.

Do Leeds have a chance?

Of course they do; Leeds are a gigantic football club, but the fact that Man United and Tottenham are also in the hunt makes it very tough.

Meanwhile, the likes of Newcastle United, Leicester City, Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers have all been linked with a move.

At the moment, all of those clubs can offer something that Leeds cannot – Premier League football, but it remains to be seen what is important to Murphy at this stage of his career.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has certainly not been afraid to introduce young players this season, whilst the club’s Under-23 outfit are very impressive indeed.

Fending off interest from Premier League clubs will be tough, but could Bielsa’s desire to use and develop young players be enough to convince Murphy to come to Elland Road?

Nowhere else would the likes of Aapo Halme, Jack Clarke and Leif Davis be shown such clear paths to the first team, and Murphy would be wise to try his luck under the enigmatic boss. Likewise, as a ball-playing centre-half, Bielsa’s philosophy suits him perfectly.

If the teenager does move to Yorkshire, look no further than Bielsa as the primary reason why.

وتابع: “هناك بعض الناس نجحت في خلق هذا التنافس بيننا من لا شيء”.

وعن وصف بنزيما له بعربية الكارتينج بينما هو مثل الفورمولا وان؟، أجاب: “هذه التصريحات جعلتني أضحك كثيرًا، ليس لدي أي استياء منها”.

وأضاف: “ربما كانت مسيرتي لتكون أفضل مع وجود بنزيما بجانبي في المنتخب، لكن لا أحد أيضًا يضمن ذلك”.

The former Whites left-back ripped into the Yorkshire outfit via the same social media platform only last year, saying they were losing their identity because of the Spanish being spoken by the manager and his players.

However, it appears to be a tactic that has worked out pretty well considering Carlos Corberan and his men have wrapped up the league with two games to spare following their 2-0 success against Colchester United in Essex on Monday.

Harte would certainly have had to eat a slice of humble pie before sending his message of congratulations on Twitter, and admit that the future is actually looking good under the likes of Corberan, Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta.

Respect must go out to the 41-year-old former Republic of Ireland international for his latest comments, but there was still no sign of him directly saying he had been proven wrong.

Unai Emery is not using Alex Iwobi properly.

The Arsenal winger endured a quiet game against Newcastle United on Monday evening as the Gunners won 2-0.

Iwobi is a versatile winger but was deployed almost as an attacking midfielder against the Magpies, alongside Mesut Ozil and behind striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The Nigeria international has mainly been deployed on the left wing this season and has scored five goals in all competitions, while laying on seven assists.

But he was wasted as an attacking midfielder on Monday evening in a game that the Gunners dominated.

Iwobi touched the ball a total of 57 times, per WhoScored, and attempted 49 total passes, of which 42 were successful.

He did not make a key pass, nor did he complete a dribble, despite attempting three.

Iwobi did take one accurate corner but was substituted just after the hour-mark, making way for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Quite simply, Emery’s system left Iwobi struggling on Monday.

A puzzle for Emery to solve

Where exactly should Iwobi play?

He does not really have the searing pace to make too much of an impact on the flank, but he was routinely crowded out in the centre.

Emery could choose to deploy the 22-year-old in a deeper-lying midfield role but he has played in central midfield just once for the club, in a 17-minute cameo against Southampton in 2017.

With Mesut Ozil seemingly returning to form and Henrikh Mkhitaryan back to full fitness, it is a difficult conundrum for Emery to find his way around.

As it is, it does not appear that Iwobi fits into the team at all.

According to Takvim, three Italian clubs are interested in signing Leeds United forward Caleb Ekuban in this summer’s transfer window.

What’s the word, then?

Ekuban joined Leeds from Chievo in July 2017, with the attacker signing a four-year contract with the Championship club.

The Ghana international only made seven appearances for the Whites during the 2017-18 campaign, however, and was loaned to Trabzonspor in August 2018.

The 25-year-old has scored seven times in all competitions for Trabzonspor this term, and it is thought that the Turkish side have the option to sign him permanently this summer.

However, according to Takvim, three unnamed Italian clubs are also interested in a deal for Ekuban, who has a contract with Leeds until June 2021.

How will this one end?

Well, it is difficult to imagine that Ekuban has a future at Leeds.

There is no question that the striker has shown some good form this season, but the Whites will be planning for a future without the 5 ft 11 ace.

The ideal situation for Leeds would be to sell directly to an Italian club this summer, but it seems that Trabzonspor will take up their permanent option before selling for a profit.

Ekuban has almost become the forgotten man at Elland Road and it does appear that his career with the Yorkshire club has finished before it really started.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have bigger fish to fry at the moment, though, as they battle to secure a top-two finish in the Championship table.

وتابع: “ولكن بيل كان في طريقه بالفعل إلى ريال مدريد، حاولت خطفه وعرضنا مبلغا أكبر بكثير على توتنهام، لكن قاموا بإغراء اللاعب براتب أعلى”.

وأضاف: “حاولنا بكل الطرق، حتى جهزنا الطائرة التي ستقل بيل إلى ملعب التدريب، كنا نعتقد أن لدينا فرصة في ضم بيل، ولكن في النهاية، اختار الذهاب إلى ريال مدريد”.

وأتم تصريحاته: “أعتقد أنه كان خيارًا رائعًا لأنه فاز بأربع بطولات لدوري أبطال أوروبا ولديه مسيرة ناجحة هناك”.
