Everton’s squad should be be set for another overhaul during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Marco Silva is surely fighting for his future following a dismal run of form in the Premier League that has left the Toffees adrift of the European places. The Portuguese was appointed in the summer and his arrival prompted a sense of optimism on Merseyside. However, the former Watford boss needs a strong end to the campaign to avoid being given the axe.

Owner Farhad Moshiri could be forced into another managerial change to keep the Blues competing for Europe yet again. New director of football Marcel Brands enjoyed plenty of success in his first transfer window at the club and will be relied upon again. The Dutchman could look to find a new right-back with Seamus Coleman failing to impress throughout the current campaign.

Brands should return to former club PSV Eindhoven to land Denzel Dumfries in the summer. Valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old arrived at the club last July, joining from Heerenveen for just £5m. The defender has made an instant impact at his new employers and has been ever-present for the side during his 30 appearances so far.

Similar to Coleman in his earlier years, Dumfries has proven to be a potent attacking threat from the back, helping his side’s cause with three goals and three assists in the Eredivisie. However, the youngster doesn’t neglect his defensive duties, winning 2.1 tackles as well as averaging 1.4 interceptions per game. Dumfries should have no issues adapting to the physicality of the Premier League as he has won an incredible three aerial duels per game so far this season (WhoScored).

Dumfries is still developing and improving – Brands should do all he can to lure the Netherlands international to Goodison.

صحيفة “لاجازيتا” الإيطالية، أكدت بأن برشلونة لم يستسلم ويواصل السعي نحو التعاقد مع اللاعب الأرجنتيني، وعلى استعداد لفعل المستحيل من أجل الحصول على خدماته.

وينتظر برشلونة الانتهاء من عمليات البيع في سوق الانتقالات للحصول على الأموال اللازمة، ويريد الذهاب إلى إنتر مباشر في ظل العلاقة الجيدة الآن بين الناديين، بعد انتقال أرثورو فيدال إلى النيرازوري.

وعرض برشلونة مبلغا ماليا لم يتم الكشف عنه، بالإضافة لـ جونيور فيربو هدف إنتر ميلان، والمهاجم لويس سواريز، الذي كان قاب قوسين أو أدنى من الانتقال إلى يوفنتوس خلال الأيام الماضية.

وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن برشلونة قدم العرض الذي يتضمن المال، وعدد من اللاعبين على سبيل الإعارة، حيث أن إدارة النادي الكتالوني، تُدرك تمامًا أنه من الصعب إقناع مالك إنتر، تشانج، بعرض منخفض ماليًا.

كشفت تقارير صحفية عن موعد عودة سباعي فريق مانشستر سيتي المُصاب، إلى الفريق مرة أخرى.

مانشستر سيتي يغيب عن صفوفه، سبعة لاعبين، وهم إيمرك لابورت، إريك جارسيا، برناردو سيلفا، جواو كانسيلو، أوليكساندر زينشينكو، سيرجيو أجويرو وإلكاي جوندوجان.

وبحسب شبكة “مانشستر إيفينينج نيوز” البريطانية، فإن جارسيا والذي يُعاني من إصابة في الرأس من المتوقع أنّ يعود في 27 سبتمبر الجاري، وهو نفس موعد عودة لابورت الذي لم يستعد لياقته البدنية الكاملة بعد تعافيه من كورونا ليشارك في التدريبات.

وأوضحت الشبكة أنّ يوم 17 أكتوبر سيشهد عودة برناردو سيلفا والذي يُعاني من إصابة عضلية، مثله مثل كانسيلو بالإضافة لـ زينشينكو الذي لديه إصابة عضلية كذلك.

وأشارت الشبكة إلى أنّ إلكاي جوندوجان والذي أصُيب بـ فيروس كورونا المٌستجد، سيتواجد مع الفريق مرة أخرى في الثالث من أكتوبر المُقبل.

واختتمت الشبكة تقريرها بنبأ صادم عن موعد عودة أجويرو، والذي لم يتعاف من العملية الجراحية التي خضع لها في الركبة، حيث لن يعود النجم الأرجنتيني للملاعب قبل نوفمبر المقبل.

Everton have been going about their transfer business as if they are a top-six club in recent years. Extravagant spending sprees have become the norm, but what do they have to show for it?

The damning answer is, well, nothing at all. A collection of immensely talented individuals have been assembled and placed under the tutelage of Marco Silva, whose own mediocrity appears to be rubbing off on his squad of players.

But the Portuguese manager still needs time to build a squad of players who are well-suited to his philosophy. Farhad Moshiri may well need to provide him with significant financial backing once again this summer, but a handful of key decisions regarding the current squad need to be made before a budget can be set.

A quick dive into Everton’s finances shows that the club are splurging money down the drain on a myriad of bang-average players. Naturally, it’s important to acknowledge that this is not a game of Football Manager and selling a professional football player is not a black and white process, but Everton will have to initiate a healthy clear-out to maximise the Toffees’ wage bill in the summer.

That’s where we come in. We’re taking a look at the players Moshiri, Silva and Director of Football Marcel Brands could and certainly should actively seek to offload this summer to take a hefty chunk out of the wage bill, based on figures provided by Spotrac.

Those who are unlikely to stay beyond the summer

Idrissa Gueye, earning £3.64m per year, handed in a transfer request in January in a bid to force through a move to PSG, so it seems unlikely that he will remain at Goodison if the French giants renew their interest in the summer.

Veterans Leighton Baines and Ashley Williams are both out of contract in the summer and they’re earning £3.64m a year each. Logic would tell you they’ll be leaving Goodison Park, even if the former is an immensely popular servant.

Finding suitors for five dead weights could save Everton more than £15million next season. Yannick Bolasie, Kevin Mirallas, Sandro Ramirez, Oumar Niasse and Cuco Martina are all plying their trade away from the club on loan and seemingly surplus to requirements.

Bolasie currently takes home £3.9m per year, Mirallas £3.64m, Ramirez £3.38m, Niasse £2.86m and Martina £1.82m. Chop all four and Brands has plenty of cash to play with on his wage bill.

Those who aren’t warranting their wage on the pitch

Earning a massive £5.2m per year – equivalent to 100k per week – Theo Walcott is one of Everton’s top earners. To say that his salary is out of sync with his contribution to the club would be a criminal understatement. If Everton have any sense they’ll get rid.

Meanwhile, Morgan Schniederlin and Cenk Tosun are pocketing £5.2m and £3.12m respectively. More money down the drain.

Results of Everton’s summer sale

Sanctioning all of the aforementioned departures would be a financial game-changer. In total, £40.04million would be eliminated from the yearly wage bill, equivalent to £770k per week.

To place that into context, Everton could add another seven players to their wage bill on £90k per week – the wage Richarlison takes home – and still have £50k per week left to play with.

Manchester United continued their fine run under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a 3-2 win over Southampton this weekend.

A Romelu Lukaku double proved to be the difference between the sides in a hard fought game at Old Trafford, but it was United who got the three points and continued their run at a Champions League spot.

Of course, the summer is set to be a big one for United in terms of who they make their new manager and who the club go out and sign, but we here in the Tavern feel a few new addtions are a must for the club.

Signing the right calibre of star is hard at a club like United, but there are players out there who could be worth a punt, and one man we think would be a good signing for the Red Devils is Leicester City man Wilfred Ndidi.

The 22-year-old powerhouse has bags of ability and even more potential, and with United needing a bit of bite in the middle of the park, he could well be the ideal signing at Old Trafford.

Strong in the tackle and someone who gets about the pitch well, Ndidi would allow the likes of Paul Pogba to keep playing his expansive brand of football, something which all United fans are wanting to see more of going forward.

It’s a big step up moving to a club the size of United, but Ndidi has the ability, and with a bit of coaching and nurturing, he could well go on to be a superb signing for the club.

Crystal Palace fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Brighton on Saturday, offering a performance far removed from their excellent display away at Burnley last week.

For other football fans, the bizarrely-named M23 derby – although the Palace and Brighton faithful detest to call it that – is a pointless one, however it is a huge game for the two clubs involved.

The loss at Selhurst Park, therefore, is gutting for Eagles fans who surely would have felt that their beloved club would understand the pain they are feeling this week – that doesn’t seem the case, though.

On Monday, Palace announced that season tickets for the 19/20 campaign are now available to be renewed and it’s safe to say that the SE25 faithful were less than pleased with the timing, let alone the fact that the prices had been upped.

The Eagles’ defeat on Saturday was their eighth at home of the season – a record which would surely see them relegated if not for their solid away form – and Palace fans on Twitter were rightfully angered by the ill-timed announcement…

وكان موسيماني وجهازه المعاون قد وصلوا إلى القاهرة صباح اليوم الجمعة؛ لتولي قيادة الأهلي، حيث يبدأ الجنوب إفريقي مهمته بقيادة مران الفريق مساء اليوم؛ استعدادا لمواجهة المقاولون العرب المقرر لها بعد غدٍ الأحد ضمن منافسات الدوري المصري الممتاز.‏

وأجرى موسيماني حواراً عبر الموقع الرسمي للأهلي، تحدث فيه عن الدوافع التي جعلته يوافق على تدريب المادر الأحمر، وطموحاته مع القلعة الحمراء، وقدرته على المنافسة على حصد لقب دوري أبطال إفريقيا. ما الدوافع التي جعلتك توافق على عرض الأهلي؟

– إنها فرصة كبيرة أن أنضم لأسرة الأهلى؛ لأنه نادٍ عظيم، وشرف كبير بالنسبة لي الانضمام له، وأكن احترامًا كبيرًا للنادي الأهلي وجماهيره.

كيف ترى فريق الأهلي في الوقت الحالي؟

لم أشاهد مباريات الأهلي في الفترة الأخيرة، ولم أكن متابعا جيدا للدوري المصري، فقد كان كل تركيزي مع فريق صن داونز الذي كان يخوض بطولتي الدوري والكأس في جنوب إفريقيا، وكنا نلعب مباراة كل ثلاثة أيام. ما الذي يميز لاعبي الأهلي من وجهة نظرك الفنية؟

أنا أعرف فريق الأهلي، لديه شخصية عظيمة، ولاعبوه يملكون مقومات البطولة، ولديهم روح كبيرة، ودائما ما يقاتلون لتحقيق الفوز، لكن بالتأكيد أكبر الأندية في العالم لديها مميزات، ولديها أمور أخرى في حاجة للتحسين. ما رأيك في أداء الأهلي على المستوى المحلي؟

الأهلي كان رائعا على المستوى المحلي، بدليل أنه حقق لقب الدوري بأداء مقنع، وبفارق كبير من النقاط، قبل انتهاء المسابقة بعدة مباريات. هل الأهلي يستطيع تحقيق دوري أبطال إفريقيا؟

الأهلى فريق قوي، وقادر على تحقيق لقب دوري الأبطال؛ لأنك إذا نجحت في الوصول إلى نصف النهائي، فهذا يعني أنك قادر على الوصول إلى المباراة النهائية والتتويج باللقب. هل مباريات الدوري المتبقية كافية لتوصيل فكرك الفني للاعبين قبل مواجهة الوداد؟

هناك 4 مباريات متبقية في الدوري، وهو ما سيعطيني فكرة عن اللاعبين، لكن الأكثر أهمية بالنسبة لي هم الأشخاص المتواجدون مع الفريق، والمدربون المساعدون كذلك سيساعدوني على التركيز في كل ما نحتاجه خلال نصف نهائي الأبطال؛ فلا يوجد وقت للبدء من جديد، ونحن نحتاج للتركيز في مواجهتي نصف النهائي لاستكمال البطولة، وبعد ذلك يمكننا النظر إلى احتياجات الفريق، وأنا أعتمد الآن على المدربين المساعدين وعلى كل الأشخاص الموجودين في النادي، وعلى اللاعبين الكبار في الفريق حتى نحافظ على ما وصلنا إليه، أنا لست هنا لتغيير أي شيء، الآن نحن في نصف النهائي وعلينا التركيز على بلوغ المباراة النهائية. كيف كان وداعك للاعبي صن داونز وإدارته؟

لقد تحدثت مع لاعبي صن داونز وقلت لهم إن تدريب الأهلي هو حلم بالنسبة لي، وإنها فرصة مهمة جدا في مسيرتي التدريبية، واستأذنت الإدارة، ورئيس الأهلي تحدث معي بوضوح أن موافقة نادي صن داونز ورئيسه شرط رئيسي لإتمام التعاقد إحتراما للعلاقة الوطيدة بين الناديين.

ما الفرق بين الأهلي وصن داونز؟

صن داونز نادٍ كبير، ولكن هناك فارق كبير بين الناديين على مستوى الثقافة والتاريخ والقيمة فالنادي الأهلي تأسس قبل 100 عام، وهذا ما يجب علينا احترامه، علينا النظر إلى الشعار والنجوم الموجودة فوقه والنجوم الموجودة تحت النسر، وهذا التاريخ يدعو للاحترام، حقا العمل مع هذا النادي العظيم فرصة كبير بالنسبة لي. كيف ترى فرصة التدريب خارج جنوب إفريقيا؟

مدربو كرة القدم أشخاص محترفون، ومثلما قام بيب جوارديولا بالرحيل عن إسبانيا والتدريب في ألمانيا وإنجلترا، رغم اختلاف الثقافة واللغة، كذلك بكل تأكيد أنا أستطيع أن أفعل ذلك، لأن كرة القدم لعبة عالمية وهي واحدة في كل مكان، ونحن نتابعها أيا كان مكانها. ما هي رسالتك لجمهور الأهلى؟

Gerard Deulofeu’s hat-trick away at Cardiff City last month helped Watford secure a romping 5-1 victory over Neil Warnock’s side in Wales and in turn, also secured the club’s first ever Premier League hat-trick.

In nearly six full seasons playing in England’s top-flight, Deulofeu made the Hornets the 40th club in the Premier League era to have a player reach three or more goals in a match.

But do you know who registered your club’s first ever Premier League treble?

The list of scorers who’ve taken home the matchball during the Premier League is bound to jog your memory, with a number of long-forgotten names in English top-flight history etching their names in their respective club’s history books.

Some are legends, some not so much, and you’ll be surprised with a few of them.

Watford aside, 39 other clubs have a Premier League hat-trick to their name, and here are the men who got them off the mark…

Leeds United: Eric Cantona, 25 August 1992

The four-time league champion achieved the Premier League’s first hat-trick just weeks into its inaugural season during a 5-0 smashing of Spurs at Elland Road.

Cantona finished his career with 70 league goals between Leeds and Manchester United, but his  treble in August 1992 would serve as his lone Premier League hat-trick.

Nine Premier League hat-tricks followed Cantona’s at Leeds with the last coming from Mark Viduka in 2003.

Newcastle United: Peter Beardsley, 30 October 1993

The England-international brought Newcastle their first Premier League hat-trick during his second stint with the club, starting things off against Wimbledon with a penalty kick before following with a pair of second half goals in a 4-0 win at St. James’ Park.

Beardsley finished his career five years later in 1998 with 147 career goals for club and country.

A flurry of hat-tricks soon followed from the likes of Andrew Cole and Les Ferdinand all the way through to Andy Carroll and Leon Best in the early 2010s for the Magpies, but a no Newcastle player has picked up a treble in the Premier League since Georginio Wijnaldum in 2015.

Charlton Athletic: Clive Mendonca, 22 August 1998

Mendonca’s second half hat-trick helped drive Charlton past Southampton to their first during their debut campaign in the top-division in 1998.

The Englishman would only score five more leave goals the rest of the season, but his early season treble solidified his place in Charlton’s history books.

Kevin Lisbie’s hat-trick five years later in 2003 remains the only other Premier League hat-trick in Charlton’s Premier League history.

Arsenal: Kevin Campbell, 11 September 1993

The English striker scored a natural hat-trick to glide Arsenal past Ipswich Town and bring the Gunners their first Premier League hat-trick early in the 1993 campaign.

The trio of goals that day at Arsenal Stadium was the first of four Premier League hat-tricks Campbell would score over his career.

Arsenal now stand as the all-time leaders in Premier League hat-trick history with 39.

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Diogo Jota, 19 January 2019

Just over a month before Deulofeu scored his for Watford, Jota delivered Wolves their first-ever hat-trick with a treble that included a 90th-minute winner to sink Leicester City 4-3.

The 22-year old winger has impressed in his debut season in the top-flight, racking up six goals and three assists in 24 league appearances so far.

Bolton Wanderers: Fredi Bobic, 6 April 2002

On-loan from Borussia Dortmund, the German-international delivered Bolton their first-ever hat-trick with a first-treble against Ipswich in the spring of 2002.

Bobic would score only one other goal for Wanderers in his half-season spent with the club.

Bobic’s treble remains Bolton’s only Premier League hat-trick.

Sheffield Wednesday: Chris Bart-Williams, 12 April 1993

Bart-Williams and his treble was the difference in the Owls’ 5-2 over Southampton during the tail end of the Premier League’s inaugural season.

The winger, born in Sierra Leone, only scored three other goals in 33 appearances that year.

Sheffield Wednesday’s only other Premier League hat-trick came five years later in 1997, courtesy of Andy Booth.

Portsmouth: Teddy Sheringham, 26 August 2003

The Premier League journeyman got Portsmouth on the board with a flawless hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Bolton in the early stages of the 2003/04 campaign.

Sheringham scored nine goals in 32 appearances during that season at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth stand now with five Premier League hat-tricks to their name,  with Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Benjani Mwaruwari each owning a pair for the club.

Crystal Palace: Yannick Bolasie, 11 April 2015

The French winger delivered Palace their first Premier League hat-trick during the second season of the club’s return to the top-flight.

Tied 1-1 at half-time with Sunderland, Bolasie’s second-half treble vaulted the Eagles to a 4-1 victory during a late season meeting at the Stadium of Light.

Crystal Palace have yet to have another hat-trick scorer in the Premier League.

Ipswich Town: Marcus Stewart, 2 April 2001

Stewart’s 71st minute penalty in a 3-0 defeat of Southampton gave Ipswich Town their only ever Premier League hat-trick.

He finished his career in 2011 with 26 career Premier League goals before stints coaching with Exeter and Bristol.
